In Szabadság - tér (Liberty Square)
In Szabadság-tér (Liberty Square)- which during the year 1849 was the scene of the martyrdom of the intrepid champions of Hungarian liberty - the Hungarians erected the Hungarian irredenta statues modelled after the Paris Strassbourg statue to serve as striking symbols of the injustice inflicted upon Hungary, the repair of which must be insisted upon by every person with a sense of fairness. The four statues are called: North, South, East and West symbolising that Hungary has been mutilated in all four directions of the World.
